EFA funded learners on a study programme that will only have time for part time hours for the rest of this funding year and part time hours next funding year making in total full time hours, if they have a grade D GCSE will they need to work on re-sits this contract year as this year they will only be on a part time programme or can they work on f/skills level 2 and move on to GCSE next funding year?

Interesting question! The COF rules say “Part time students are those on a study programme of under 540”. Your students will be doing a study programme of more than 540 hours, so are full time, so I’d say they should do a GCSE.

However, the validation used to determine COF adherence, only uses annual planned hours, so these students wouldn’t show up as not meeting COF if you put them on a FS instead of a GCSE, either this year or next.

    Hi Ruth

    Thanks for your reply.

I have decided that as they are part time hours for both funding years they will be fine to work on functional skills. Unless anyone else has any more thoughts???
