    Hi Jodie

What you have here as the LARS code is actually the standard code. The LARS code is the code you have put under programme aim – this information you find on here https://des.fasst.org.uk/learning%20aims/pages/default.aspx.

For the level 6 apprenticeships you are offering you would have a programme aim with the LARS code of ZPROG001 and then a component aim which would be the LARS code for the standard/course you are offering. For each degree apprenticeship we are offering we have requested a LARS code be created for it, which I believe you would have to do too? (There is a form to fill in to do this).

For example, with the Chartered manager degree apprenticeship, we have the following:

    Programme Aim (Aim type 1)
    Standard Code: 55
    LARS: ZPROG001
    Programme Type: 25

    Component Aim (Aim Type 2)
    Standard Code: 55
LARS: 00301792 (this is the code we had created, which is unique for our institution)

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Jodie,

    The Programme Aim is always ZPROG001. The Provider Support Manual says;

6.1.2 Recording learning aims for apprenticeship programmes
    514. For apprenticeship programmes, you must record an aim that describes the overall apprenticeship programme. This aim is known as the ‘programme aim’ and is recorded using the Learning aim reference ‘ZPROG001’.

Those Z00 codes you’ve recorded are the component codes you would use if the apprentice was on no other components. They look right to me.

It think we only create our own LARS codes because we are a HE institution and HEFCE require a LARS code for each course we offer. If you are not a HE Institution then you should be fine with the codes you have.

    Thanks, Kirsty.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

Kirsty, do you have a link to the form to request the code as we are also an HEI?

    Many thanks
    Jodie

    Hi Jody

The link to the form and more information is below, it is under HE Learning aim request due date 2018.
    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/individualised-learner-record-ilr-sources-of-data

You will need to provide evidence that the course has been approved.
If you have anymore questions from a HE perspective then I should be able to help. We’ve just gone through the whole ILR set-up and I think we’ve made it out the other side.

    Many thanks, Kirsty.

    Hi,
The Aim type field is used to identify whether a learning aim is a programme aim or a component aim in the ILR:
    – Programme aim (always ZPROG001) must be recorded with Aim type code 1
    – Component aims are recorded with Aim type code 3
The component aims are used to record any qualification (regulated qualifications and non-regulated learning activity) delivered as part of the framework.

If no regulated qualifications are undertaken as part of an apprenticeship standard programme, you should record one of the non-regulated learning aims held in the LARS database as the component aim. These non-regulated codes should be taken from Category E of Appendix H.

Where prescribed HE learning aims (code 1 in the EnglPrscID field in the LARS database) are being delivered as part of the apprenticeship programme these aims will have to added to LARS .

Prior to this if there is a delay in the publication of learning aim information in the LARS database, then you can temporarily record the Learning aim reference of the nearest equivalent aim (in terms of type of provision).
Code LDM118 must also be recorded in the Learning Delivery Funding and Monitoring fields to indicate that the learning aim reference recorded is being used as a proxy for the actual learning aim that is being undertaken.
Once the actual learning aim reference is published, you must update the code recorded in the Learning aim reference field and remove code LDM118 from the Learning Delivery Funding and Monitoring fields.

In all cases, the proxy aim details must be removed and the actual aim details recorded before the end of the teaching year or before the learner completes or withdraws from the learning aim, otherwise the data will fail validation.

Just to jump on the back of this. Some of our learners are doing a team leader standard. in this standard it is recommended but not required that they complete a L3 Diploma in Management.
If they are doing this, would I put the LAR for the diploma in their main aim, rather than the non regulated provision code (as with other standards that don’t have any recommended certification).

    thanks,

    Hi,
You should only include aims that are mandatory in the standard as a funded component aim but you should record any qualification delivered but not mandatory as an unfunded aim.
