Back in the 1980’s a grade 1 CSE was considered to be equivalent to a Grade C GCE O level. We have a learner who has grade 1 CSE Maths who wants to sign up for Maths GCSE but we cannot find any reference to CSE in the list of equivalent qualifications to GCSE A+-C or the new level 4-9 for the purpose of deeming whether this GCSE course can be offered free of charge. Does anyone know if this is the case given how old this qualification is?

Assuming you’ve got an initial assessment showing her at an appropriate level now, I wouldn’t worry about the CSE? As you say, it’s not on the list of equivalents, so I’d be happy to fund the learner.
