    Hi

I am trying to work out the lagged number method for 18/19 allocations. I have read the guidance and it says they used the following:

    17/18 RO4 no of learners
then the ratio between no of learners RO4 and R14 from 16/17 – how do we work out this ratio ? I can’t work it out and get to the no’s we were allocated…

    Thanks

    Hi,
Your funding allocation statement will show how this is calculated as Lagged student numbers are calculated in different ways for different types of institutions.

The ratio used against the number of students funded in 2017 to 2018 as at 1 November is the proportion student numbers in the previous full year’s data (2016 to 2017) increased from 1 November to the end of the year.

In simple terms your allocation= number of students funded in 2017 to 2018 as at 1 November X (number of students funded in 2016 to 2017 as at 1 November/ number of students funded in 2016 to 2017 to the end of the year)
    Example:
number of students funded in 2017 to 2018 as at 1 November =1000
number of students funded in 2016 to 2017 as at 1 November =950
number of students funded in 2016 to 2017 to the end of the year= 1050
    The ratio would be 1050/950 = 1.105
    Allocation 2018 to 2019 = 1000 X 1.105 = 1105
