We have an apprentice who we are trying to sign-up on to an Apprenticeship but does not have a passport or birth certificate to prove that they have the right to live in the UK, they say that they are a British citizen. They do have a national insurance number which would go towards their right to work.
Can you please advise what alternative evidence may be used to show the right to live and work in the UK?
Your applicant should have some acceptable evidence they can show you but not knowing the exact circumstances I would suggest you could accept the following:
Adoption certificate if they do not have a birth certificate and a current payslip with matching NI number
